The most common traffic stop
No new material today, so I will have to dredge up material from the past. What's the easiest and, dare I say, most common traffic stop in Addis Ababa? For my money, it's got to be having one headlight out. Totally incontrovertible. One of the negatives of this practice is that to avoid being pulled over, drivers with only one headlight often revert to cruising around town with their high beams on. Which is a worse hazard?
Anyway, consider that as a warning to any of you newly arrived or unwitting Farenj (Habesha no about this fact by default). One headlight will get you stopped and ticketed. I've even got an English slogan for it like "Click it or ticket" - "One light, pay tonight". Needs work.
